Laser eye surgery

Using a laser to correct or reduce the eye’s refractive error with great precision and control.

Implantable contact lens (ICL)

An implantable contact lens (ICL), or phakic intraocular lens, is a type of contact lens placed between the iris and the eye’s natural lens. An ICL is an alternative for people who are not eligible for laser eye surgery.

Implantable phakic contact lens (IPCL)

A phakic intraocular lens is a vision-correcting treatment. An implantable lens is inserted behind the iris and in front of the natural lens to correct high degrees of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism and presbyopia. The IPCL offers an alternative to laser eye surgery, particularly for patients with a thin cornea or a high refractive error.

Lens replacement

Removal of the natural eye lens and replacement with an artificial lens that corrects the refractive error. Multifocal, toric, or multifocal-toric lenses can be used for this purpose, so that you are as independent of glasses as possible after the procedure.

Collagen cross-linking

A chemical treatment using riboflavin and UVA light to stiffen the corneal tissue and stabilise the shape of the keratoconus. Collagen cross-linking is the only treatment that stops the cornea from bulging further and becoming more irregular.

Cross-linking plus

A treatment for patients with keratoconus that combines conventional corneal cross-linking with a superficial laser treatment.

CAIRS

CAIRS stands for Corneal Allogenic Intrastromal Ring Segments. CAIRS is a treatment for keratoconus that aims to improve the shape of the cornea by placing small ring segments made from donor corneal tissue in the patient’s own cornea.

As treatment for:

Short-sightedness

Difficulty seeing clearly in the distance. You can see nearby objects clearly.

Astigmatism

A cylindrical refractive error that causes blurred vision both at a distance and close up.

Long-sightedness

Your distance vision is blurred, and your near vision is even more blurred.
