Consultation and function tests

How should you prepare? Who may escort you? How do you register? What should you do when you arrive at the hospital? How and when do you have to pay for your consultation?

Admission

What should you bring? What type of room do you want? Who should you inform about your admission? What can you expect during your hospital stay? How does the payment work?

Telephone or video consultation

In some cases, a standard consultation may be replaced by a video or telephone consultation. The consultation will then take place over the phone (telephone consultation), or via computer or smartphone (video consultation). How do you prepare?

What should you always prepare?

Do you use medication at home?

Make a list of all the medicines you take. If possible, bring them to the hospital in their original packaging. It is important for your doctor to be aware of the medicines you are already taking in order to avoid dangerous reactions. During your admission, all necessary medication will be provided for you.

Prepare your conversation

As a result of tension or emotions, a conversation with the care provider often proceeds differently than you would have liked. Only once you are outside again, you'll remember what you wanted to ask. Good preparation helps to get the right information. Read some tips to help you.

Tips to prevent falls

According to figures, as of the age of 65, an average of 1 in 3 people falls. From 80 years onwards, this is even 1 in 2. But falling is not only related to age. Both during a consultation and a hospital admission, there are points of attention to prevent falls. The following tips can help you.

Attestation or prescription needed?

Check whether you need a certificate, such as an absence certificate for your employer or school. Check beforehand if you still have sufficient prescriptions. Ask for your attestation or prescription before you leave the consultation. There may be a charge for this afterwards.

Consultations and function tests limited to 50 procent

7 December 2020
As of Wednesday 4 November all outpatient activities (consultations, function tests ...) reduced to 50 procent of the hospital's capacity. If you're consultation or function test has to be moved, you will be informed by text or phone at least 24 hours in advance.
