Thanks in part to the fund's support, young, talented PhD students can get down to work. Together with the specialists at UZ Leuven, they come closer, via genetic-molecular research, to the genesis mechanisms of rare lymphomas and thus to better treatments.

There is still no effective treatment for many plasma cell diseases. Scientific research is providing us with new insights into these rare diseases and their treatments. In order to develop better treatments, it is necessary to have a good understanding of the mechanisms involved in their development. This requires a great deal of scientific research.

Our research into new therapeutic options will receive very welcome support from this fund for haematological research. It should also help us to choose the right drug for the right patient and to find an appropriate response when the patient does not react as expected.

The rare and little-known disease Langerhans-Cel-Histiocytosis occurs mainly in young children and is in some cases life-threatening. Contact with fellow sufferers, information about the disease and treatment methods, and fundraising for scientific research are the main objectives of the association.
