Ukraine crisis cell set up at UZ Leuven

2 March 2022
The war in Ukraine is cause for a lot of concern. This is also the case at UZ Leuven. Our hospital pleads for broad solidarity with all victims of a military invasion.

Federal minister for Public Health Frank Vandenbroucke has announced that the government is preparing coordinated actions with the hospitals. These can range from supplying medical equipment or medication to accomodating victims. UZ Leuven will cooperate in all solidarity with the actions and instructions coming from the government.

Coordinated approach

To coordinate the actions taken by UZ Leuven and more specifically UZ Leuven's contribution to the reception of war victims, UZ Leuven set up a Ukraine crisis cell, led by CEO prof. dr. Wim Robberecht. The crisis cell is in close consultation with the RUZB (Council for university hospitals in Belgium) and the EUHA (European University Hospital Alliance), to be able to approach the initiatives in a coordinated manner.
