Good hygiene

Good hand hygiene is important to prevent the spread of bacteria and to prevent infections. That is why our care providers will always wash or disinfect their hands. But you and your visitors also play a part in good hand hygiene: use the hand alcohol available in the hospital.

Wash your hands regularly

Good hand hygiene is important to stop the spread of bacteria and prevent infections.

A health care provider will therefore always wash or disinfect his hands before and after care. But you and your visitors also play a part in good hand hygiene.

Hand sanitiser is readily available in the public areas, patient rooms, and the waiting and consultation areas.

Admitted patients can watch the hand hygiene film on the UZ Leuven-tv channel on the interactive screen next to their bed.

Tips for good hygiene

In addition to good hand hygiene, there are a number of other tips for your own hygiene:

  • Maintain a good personal hygiene.
  • Don't walk barefoot through the hospital.
  • Ask visitors who are ill or who have a cold to postpone their visit.
