Initiatives by UZ Leuven Charity

There are many ongoing initiatives to make the care at UZ Leuven warmer, more personal and more accessible. Your support helps us to keep making these kinds of activities and projects a reality.

Pampering moments

In many wards, our staff love to pamper their patients. We’ve already welcomed a pampering hairdresser and a photographer, and from time to time patients are surprised with delicious waffles or pancakes. Your support helps us to organise these warm-hearted initiatives on a more regular basis.

Help make farewells warm and dignified

Patients receiving palliative care sometimes feel the need to celebrate and experience something once more, despite the hospital setting. Because details often matter, the palliative support team came up with the idea of putting together a “celebration kit” filled with all kinds of party items.

In this way, a simple room or hospital bed can immediately take on a festive feel. The team also wants to develop a listening story to explain what dying means to children in a gentle way.

Bring variety to a long hospital stay

People who have to spend several months in rehabilitation on the Pellenberg campus mostly miss the everyday things from home. That’s why the rehabilitation centre makes an extra effort to keep the atmosphere family-like. For example, the kitchen organises a summer barbecue where the family of the person in rehabilitation is also warmly welcome, or a themed evening that bathes the restaurant in a southern holiday atmosphere. Help us support these enjoyable initiatives.
