Whom will you meet during your stay? When are blood samples taken? How do we conduct scientific research using residual material and tissues? What about organ donation?

Staff

All UZ Leuven employees wear a badge with their name and photograph. The colour of the badge indicates the staff member's type of profession.

Blood samples

The physician may take a blood sample before your procedure to check whether your blood is contagious to the care providers involved (e.g. hepatitis or AIDS). If you do not want us to take any blood samples, please inform your physician in good time. Please inform your physician if you are aware you are carrying an infectious disease.

Academic research at the hospital

Scientific research is also one of the core tasks of a university hospital, alongside patient care and training. The aim of that scientific research is to improve knowledge about disease and health, and to provide new insights that ultimately lead to new or better therapies.
