In-home follow-up care after the delivery

What do you need to prepare for when you go home after the delivery? Learn more about home-based midwives, home assistance, maternity care and follow-up by your GP.

Home Care Midwife

An independent midwife will assist you during the first few days after you have given birth. They will provide the necessary care after your hospital stay. Your midwife can provide support until your child is one year old.

General practitioner

Between the 4th and 7th day after birth, a thorough examination of your baby should be done. You can contact your general practitioner for this. Contact your doctor during pregnancy to arrange the medical follow-up of your baby.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding gives your baby the best possible start. But there are also many benefits for mothers who choose to breastfeed. For extra support, you can contact the breastfeeding consultation service, an independent lactation consultant, or breastfeeding organisations.
