Preparation for an endoscopic examination

It is important that you strictly follow the guidelines below before the examination. A perfect preparation is an absolute requirement for a safe and high-quality procedure.

1. Blood thinners or anticoagulants

Are you taking blood thinners or other medication? Make an appointment with your GP to check whether your medication needs to be adjusted for the examination.

If you are using blood thinners, a blood test is also required (maximum 3 months before the endoscopy).

2. Medical questionnaire

a. For every endoscopic examination

  • Fill in the questionnaire for an endoscopic examination.
  • Bring it with you, completed, on the day of your examination.

b. In case of moderate sedation or general anaesthesia

For an examination with moderate sedation or general anaesthesia, complete the following documents and send them to the anaesthesiology department before your examination.
