Whether you want to deepen your basic knowledge or further sharpen your skills, these programmes offer a unique opportunity to continue growing within the world of cardiac surgery.

Robotics Revascularisation Training

During this two-day training course, cardiothoracic surgeons can refine their knowledge and skills in robot-assisted revascularisation in a unique and interactive way.

The programme combines live-stream robot surgery using smart-glasses technology, hands-on sessions with robotic-surgery simulators, cadaver training and interactive lectures with leading experts in the field.

The Robotic Revascularisation Course is part of the EACTS Academy (European Association for Cardio-Thoracic Surgery), which has been playing a pioneering role for over ten years in delivering high-quality training in the field of cardiothoracic surgery.

This English-language programme is aimed at junior surgeons and residents in the final years of their training.

ECLS (Extracorporeal Life Support) specialist

With this programme, UZ Leuven aims first and foremost to meet the ECLS training needs within all Critical Care departments that are part of an ECLS service centre.

This programme provides a solid background for anyone involved with ECMO equipment – not necessarily in direct patient care – in the context of scientific research, marketing and/or product development.

The programme focuses partly on the theoretical knowledge required to offer these patients an optimal care pathway, but also includes intensive practical and interactive training with realistic simulation sessions.

This programme is offered in both Dutch and English (on request).
