Procedure
For parents
- Your child must be fasting for the examination.
- A first small tube is filled with exhaled air using a straw.
- Your child is given a pancake, milk, fruit juice or water enriched with a certain substance.
- Afterwards, your child will be asked to blow into a small tube every fifteen minutes to collect the exhaled air.
- Afterwards, the test can be concluded and your child can have something to eat.
- You may stay with your child while the breath tests are being carried out.
You must be fasting

Clear drinks such as water, tea or fruit juice without pulp are allowed up to one hour beforehand.

A light meal, milk and fruit juice with pulp are allowed up to six hours beforehand.

Babies up to 1 year old may be given bottle feeding or breastfed up to four hours before the procedure.
If the instructions are not followed, the examination will be postponed for your child’s safety.
