Two types of collection system are used, regardless of the brand of equipment you use: a one-piece or a two-piece system.
The collection system always consists of
- A collection pouch: an ileostomy pouch is always an open pouch that can be emptied. The pouch has a carbon filter that neutralises intestinal gases and odours. You can choose between a transparent pouch or one made from a discreet, non-transparent grey or skin-coloured material.
- A protective flange that is applied to the skin around the stoma.
