The general medical oncology department consists of eight staff members, who are responsible for the systemic therapy of solid tumours (mainly breast, urology, brain, skin, soft tissue, ENT, and some of the lymphomas). The staff members work closely with other specialists in various care programmes.

The 'senology/breast pathology' care programme is the largest care programme at UZ Leuven and currently the largest breast cancer centre in Belgium. It is coordinated by prof. Dr. Hans Wildiers, one of the current general medical oncology staff members
