Prof. dr. Wim Robberecht (1959) is a neurologist and specialised in ALS research. He has a PhD in biomedical sciences and has been a full professor at the KU Leuven Faculty of Medicine since 2001. From 2001 to 2013 he was the head of the neurology department in the University Hospitals Leuven. In 2005 he joined the Board of Directors of the University Hospitals Leuven, which he has been chairing since 2016. From 2013 until 2017, he was Vice Rector for the Biomedical Sciences Group of the KU Leuven. Prof. dr. Wim Robberecht is married and father of two children.
As of 1 October, prof. dr. Mark Waer will take over from prof. dr. Wim Robberecht as new chairman of the Board of Directors.
