"Five essential nerve blocks that can be used for 95 % of all indications": Interscalene, Supraclavicular, Axillary, Femoral, Popliteal.
The basic ultrasound guided nerve block workshop is crafted for participants without significant experience in performing peripheral nerve blocks or ultrasound guided blocks. The main emphasis during this workshop will be on the practical aspects of hands-on scanning, learning tips and tricks, how to recognize the relevant anatomy, and discussing the essence of establishing successful and safe blocks while de-emphasizing a multitude of technique variations. The participants will also have an opportunity for ample practice on live models as well as on mannequins/meat models.
Every block demonstration will be preceded by a brief description using power point presentation. After presentation the participants practice their skills by scanning on live models under the guidance of the instructors using the described techniques.
A knobology and target practice station will be available to allow hand-eye coordination practice. This station will allow participants, under guidance of an instructor, to test-drive some of the common equipment used for peripheral nerve blocks on a specially designed meat model that simulates the feel and resistance of human tissue.
