House rules at UZ Leuven
Smoking ban at UZ Leuven
Smoking ban
As smoking is harmful, a general smoking ban has been introduced at UZ Leuven. This applies to all patients' rooms, including private rooms.
Use of mobile phones
UZ Leuven has relaxed its mobile phone policy. Since June 2007 there has no longer been a general ban. It is now permitted to call from a mobile phone on all UZ Leuven campuses, with the exception of a number of demarcated wards or locations.
You are asked to switch off your mobile completely in the unauthorised areas. Mobile phones on stand-by also send out signals and can cause disruption.
Distinction between mobile phones and dect sets
Attention! Since June 2007 staff at UZ Leuven have been using internal mobile phones. These dect sets look like mobile phones but have a lower capacity. This means that their use in a professional environment is permitted.
Theft
Like many public places, hospitals are a target for thieves. It is therefore advisable to leave large sums of money and valuable items at home. If this is not possible, then leave such items with the nurse or the social worker. When you are admitted to the hospital you will be given a locker with a key. In any case, never leave your wallet or your handbag unattended if you and your visitors leave the room.

Pets are not permitted for reasons of hygiene, including in the reception hall.
