To find better treatments and medication for illnesses, to learn more about an illness, or to improve existing treatments, clinical trials are essential. Out of all Belgian unversity centres UZ Leuven is the one that runs the most clinical trials.
Clinical Trial Center
To manage the application of a trial and to make sure the process is safe and systematic, the Clinical Trial Center was established. Every trial is approved by the UZ Leuven medical ethics committee, which operates completely independently. The commission assesses for instance the scientific value of the trial, the ethical aspects and the welfare of, and the correctness of information for, the patients participating.
